Below are my favorite amp designers and builders. As an electronics hobbyist, I’m impressed with guys like Ken Fischer, Andy Fuchs, Mike Soldano and Paul Rivera who have designed and built some of the finest sounding guitar amplifiers of our time.

Mainstream Amp Builders

Fender Amplifiers - Here is a link to Fender’s amplifier page.

Gibson Amplifiers - Good site. I’m not really into the Gibson amp thing.

Genz-Benz - Jeff Genzler is a solid designer and builder of guitar amps. These are well designed and big sounding amps.

Carvin - I love this company. Privately owned and operated. They offer some of the finest guitars and amps in the industry.

Soldano Amplification - I love all of Mike Soldano’s amps. He was one of the first to design the high-gain amplifier. His entire line is well thought out and well designed. I own a Decatone which I love!

THD Electronics   - A very nice line of professional guitar amplifiers. Also, they make a whole “Hot Plate” series of amplifier attenuators. The Yellow Jacket is pretty cool too!

Rivera Amplification - I’ve always admired Paul Rivera and his unbelievable talent to modify and building some best sounding amplifiers in the world. He now has a full line of amplifiers.

Vox - Classic guitar amplifiers. I’m not a big fan of their “Valvetronics” line but I love the classic all-tube amps. Being a Brian May fan, it’s hard not to admire the classic AC-30! Also go HERE to read more about the Vox story, Dick Denney and Tom Jennings.

Hughes & Kettner - These are great amplifiers with a tone to die for. This is a rock and roll! I also admire that they have not fallen prey to the “modeling” syndrome. They 100% tube driven!

Line 6 - You’ve got to hand it to these guys. They started a whole new trend in amplifiers with their modeling software.

Diezel - Here is a high-gain amp manufacturer from Switzerland. These are super high-gain amps.

Roccaforte Amps - Great Rock N Roll amps as used by guys like Steve Stevens, Ben Harper and Cesar Rosas. As a special treat, check out Amanda and Josie!
